I have got to go through the files on my laptop and see which ones I can delete and which ones I need to save to CD. I think I’ve probably got too much on here and it’s slowing things down. I need to run the spy and ad programs, too, and see if there are things running in the background that are consuming my laptop memory.

Running those programs, disk cleanup and defragging take some time, which I don’t seem to have much of lately, but they’ve got to be done to make sure my machine is running optimally and not being so sluggish. I really don’t have time to wait for programs to load!

I also need to be more consistent about backing things up on here. I’ve been remiss in not creating backup disks, even though I am reminded of this every time I close at work. The server there backs up every night.

I will never be able to understand why some people think it’s ok to just not show up at work. Do they think the rest of us like to take up the slack and fill the void they’ve left in the crew when they don’t come in?

Today was one of those days when not one, but two, people decided they had better things to do than work. I suppose they already have too much money in the bank or something. Anyway, when the scheduled number of crew, including myself, is only five people, and two aren’t there, it causes some serious problems for the rest of us.

I wound up staying an extra two and a half hours at work today, waiting until the evening crew came in, even though I opened this morning. I’m telling you, working on your feet from 6 AM to 4:30 in the afternoon is a pretty effective weight loss regimen! It’s also a good way to develop tough callouses on your feet!

Ah, well. I’m sure tomorrow night, closing, will be better. I just keep telling myself that, you know?

Today seemed like it was three days long. I got up really early to get ready for work. I had to be there by 6 AM, and actually arrived at 5:45, so I was in good shape there. I started right in, doing opening procedures when I discovered the cash registers weren’t on.

I went to each one and hit the on switch. One of them tried to load the touch screen but it wound up looking like a film from an old science class of an artist’s rendition of the Big Bang theory. That was the register where the opening register tape is supposed to be produced, and nothing came out of its printer.

Two crew members arrived and started turning on the grill and fryers. One grill wouldn’t heat up and two fryers refused to get hot. Great. We thought we’d have to work all day on half the equipment we normally use. Still, we did all we could to get the restaurant open by 7, and we were able to take orders and make food, although it was pretty tight going for awhile.

I learned later that the power had gone off in the building, although only briefly, and that was what reset the registers and caused the cooking equipment to fail. Another manager came in and flipped the main breakers off, then on, and all the equipment started then. Phew!

It seems like health problems abound these days. Where I work, at least one person has asthma severe enough to keep him from coming to work from time to time. He’s not a kid, either. He’s a grown man. But others seem to have this health problem or that, and it makes me wonder why. Is it caused by something in the environment? Is it an unhealthy lifestyle?

I don’t really know, but I do know I’m seeing more medical id jewelry on people, too. What bothers me is that there are probably just as many people who should be wearing them, but aren’t. What happens if they get sick while they’re out shopping and no one knows what to really do for them? Of course, call an ambulance if the problem is severe, but if the person can’t communicate, then the treatment could be all wrong, couldn’t it?

Scary thought. You’re in a life or death situation, and can get wrong treatment.

It may be the long drive. It may be the new position I’m in at work. It may just be my age. I don’t know, but I’m feeling more run down lately than usual. I probably need to be on a good vitamin regimen, do a colon cleanse, and get some Orovo detox to rid my body of toxins that have built up over time.

I don’t really feel sick or anything - just lacking energy. I think I’ll get my vitamins out, put them in my 7-day pill reminder box, and keep them right next to the kitchen sink, where I always go first thing in the morning for a drink of water. I know that when I’m consistent with taking sub lingual B-12 and other vitamins, I do feel better. I’m just not a good girl when it comes to getting into the habit of taking them.

From what I’ve read, it takes 21 days to make or break a habit. I think I’ll make this “Day 1″ and see if I can get the habit of taking vitamins so ingrained in me that I feel almost naked if I don’t take them.
