Time and energy
Both of these are factors that weigh heavily into anyone’s day. You have to arrange your personal schedule so that you have time for getting the needful things done. Prioritize your schedule and assign a time limit to each task. There’s always tomorrow if the task is low priority.
Your time is worth something. Spend it wisely.
Your energy level will be severely diminished if you aren’t treating your body right. Eating right, taking supplements, and getting a proper amount of rest help to keep your energy level up. However, your mind and spirit need the same nurturing as your body does.
Proverbs 23:7 tells us that “as a man thinketh in his heart, so is he…” Your own mind has a great impact on how you deal with the mundane things of life. If you are dwelling on thoughts of sadness or how badly you were treated at work, your energy will be lowered. Those thoughts tend to take the zip out of your step.
Being a Christian doesn’t keep me hedged in from thoughts of defeat from time to time. I have those thoughts, as I’m sure you do. But I know I can find my way back out of defeat and into the light of victory if I focus on others more than myself and I view my life with hope for a sure future.
Time and energy go hand in hand, one playing off the other every day. If you have low energy, you will waste the gift of time. However, don’t try to cram too much into your schedule. That will also make you feel defeated if you can’t accomplish everything you had planned. Have reasonable expectations for your day.
Finally, be sure to include some personal time in your schedule. If you’re not taking care of your personal needs, you wind up no good to anyone else or yourself. It’s ok to put yourself first for a few minutes a day. Maybe you will want to do some devotions or meditations. Do these in privacy, in the wee hours before the rest of the household awakens.
- Set your mind to accomplish tasks. Plan the night before and write your plan down. Number the list of tasks in order of how urgent they are.
- Stay in good humor when all tasks aren’t accomplished. The world won’t surely end if you don’t do that last load of laundry or sweep the hall. It’s really ok to put off less important tasks until the next day. Just be sure the more urgent ones are attended to. Make that doctor’s appointment. Write the checks for the bills.
- Take care of you so you can take care of others and your business. Putting yourself first for a few minutes a day will lead to you actually doing a better job of taking care of others, working at your job, or running your home based business. It even helps you in your volunteer efforts.
