My sister came home from the hospital while I was visiting and staying with Mom. It turned out she didn’t suffer the nausea that I’d suffered after my surgery. I was so glad for that blessing for her. I am sure that having a heart catherterization and having the angioplasty in one artery and a stint put in another artery made things difficult enough for her. Nausea could have caused damage to the surgical site.

I’m happy that I’ll be able to visit her again next week, too, as we celebrate Mom’s 86th birthday. I just pray that Sis has no other health problems…at least none that scare us all as badly as this heart problem did!

Sis had already committed herself to a more healthful lifestyle. It may well be that the commitment actually helped this episode to not be as serious as it could have been. Still, she’ll have to do even more to ensure her heart health. Things like eliminating even more salt and fat from her already near-austere diet regimen.

Mom and I were talking today about how I felt after my lung surgery a few years ago. See, when I got home after that, I was extremely nauseas. Nothing stayed down, not even water or ice chips. The very smell of food even made me nauseas, much less eating it.That went on for over a week. When I returned to the doctor, I told him and he prescribed a few pills for me that stopped the nausea immediately and completely. I was finally able to eat and drink.

This made us wonder if Sis would have a similar response to the meds and the anesthetic that I had and if we might need to look at air purifiers so the smell of food in the house wouldn’t affect her the same way. Still, she might need the same kind of medicine I had to take, to completely do away with the nausea.

We’re really looking forward to my sister’s return home. Hospitals are alright when you’re sick and they take care of you, but when you’re better you want to be home where you’re comfortable. I’m sure Sis will feel like they’ve taken a box cutter to her instead of a surgical instrument.

She had to lie still for 4+ hours today after the surgery. She’s on some medications but once she’s home, she’ll probably be quite sore from the procedure to remove the blockage from her heart. I’ll stay on an extra day to visit with her but will probably head back home Sunday or so, as long as she’s doing OK. I’ll be back on the 29th anyway for a 5 day visit for Mom’s birthday.

I figure Sis will sleep downstairs when she gets home. She’s already had a heart catheterization done then this surgery, which takes a similar route, so it’s unlikely she’ll be able to climb the stairs for a few days. Just keep praying and thinking good thoughts that there won’t be any infections or other side effects to this surgery.

Don’t have a lot to say tonight. I’m up at my Mom’s, staying with her while my Sis is in the hospital. She had pain in her arm and shoulder a couple of days ago, went to the ER when the pain became unbearable, and was immediately diagnosed with a 95% blockage in an artery in her heart.

She was transported by ambulance to The Heart Hospital and will have stint put in Friday morning. The doctors are saying she should be coming home again on Saturday.

She’s otherwise in good health. She exercises daily, watches what she eats, and recently lost a few pounds, so the doctors are confident this procedure will fix her up just fine. They even said they don’t have to prescribe a food or exercise regimen for her because she’s already doing all the right things.

Sound good? It’s a large, international corporation.

You know it locally as McDonald’s. It’s not the same interim job you used to know. It’s not the job that losers and high-school dropouts thought it would be. Expectations are higher than ever. It’s now a job that requires employees who are hard working individuals with an eye toward their own futures. If you aren’t interested in becoming part of one of the largest corporations on the planet, and working toward maintaining a high level of quality and customer service, then maybe you should apply elsewhere. I hear Taco Bell is hiring.
