Mission of the heart
With all that my sister has gone through, it has given her quite a scare and she’s determined to improve her eating habits even further. She had already eliminated things like caffeine and bad fats. She had also already reduced her salt intake. Now, though, she’s on a real mission to educate herself and others to the symptoms of heart disease in women and to the benefits of eliminating certain things from the diet, while adding things that are healthful.
In fact, she’s so very much determined to do this I wonder if she’s going to be ordering marketing pens with heart healthy tips on them!

It’s amazing how the diet can affect the body so much. Things that people think of as fine to eat every day can actually be unhealthy. I know I was very surprised when I found out that red meat can actually be bad for the heart if eaten too often!

What’s scary is that my Sis has spent the last couple of years really getting healthy - plenty of exercise, losing weight, changing eating habits - and she still had this artery blockage. This is, of course, not an overnight thing. But if she hadn’t already begun to improve her health she might have had a full-on heart attack!

I just read your last few blog entries on your sister to find out what’s what. Wow. I really hope she recovers well from her surgery and does well with improving her eating habits and lifestyle.

Because she had spent some time improving her diet and exercising, she really is doing pretty well. She’s still not allowed to walk upstairs to her bedroom so she sleeps in the downstairs bedroom for now. She tells about her experience on her Sixty Something blog.
