Movin’ on up
A few months ago, I really had no desire to move up in the company I work for. I was pretty satisfied right where I was, as an associate manager. But lately I’ve reconsidered and now would like to learn more and move up to a higher and more well-paying position. Eventually, I’d like to be away from the “front lines” at McDonald’s and perhaps work in our corporate office or work in the field at different stores, making sure everything is running smoothly.
Even now, though, we are evaluated before every raise to make sure we have learned a sufficient amount to perform our jobs capably and to specific standards and goals. I have no doubt that some kind of corporate performance management program is used in assessing the evaluations. We already use a type of cpm to test job applicants and see if they are a good fit for our work environment.
Now it’s up to me to learn as much as I can and implement everything I learn so that further promotion is possible.
