It seems like health problems abound these days. Where I work, at least one person has asthma severe enough to keep him from coming to work from time to time. He’s not a kid, either. He’s a grown man. But others seem to have this health problem or that, and it makes me wonder why. Is it caused by something in the environment? Is it an unhealthy lifestyle?

I don’t really know, but I do know I’m seeing more medical id jewelry on people, too. What bothers me is that there are probably just as many people who should be wearing them, but aren’t. What happens if they get sick while they’re out shopping and no one knows what to really do for them? Of course, call an ambulance if the problem is severe, but if the person can’t communicate, then the treatment could be all wrong, couldn’t it?

Scary thought. You’re in a life or death situation, and can get wrong treatment.

It may be the long drive. It may be the new position I’m in at work. It may just be my age. I don’t know, but I’m feeling more run down lately than usual. I probably need to be on a good vitamin regimen, do a colon cleanse, and get some Orovo detox to rid my body of toxins that have built up over time.

I don’t really feel sick or anything - just lacking energy. I think I’ll get my vitamins out, put them in my 7-day pill reminder box, and keep them right next to the kitchen sink, where I always go first thing in the morning for a drink of water. I know that when I’m consistent with taking sub lingual B-12 and other vitamins, I do feel better. I’m just not a good girl when it comes to getting into the habit of taking them.

From what I’ve read, it takes 21 days to make or break a habit. I think I’ll make this “Day 1″ and see if I can get the habit of taking vitamins so ingrained in me that I feel almost naked if I don’t take them.

There are blazing infernos out west, and history making floods in the heartland. With all these disasters, my heart breaks for those who are caught up in them. I can only imagine what they are going through, and I’m sure my imagination falls far short of the reality of the situation. My troubles are minuscule compared to theirs, so I have no good reason to whine or rant or complain.

What about you? What are you complaining about that could actually be much worse if you were in other locations? I daresay, what you find bothersome now you’d probably welcome in comparison to those other difficulties.

One of the great things about a day off or at least working the evening shift is being able to have time to prepare home cooked meals. Right now, I have leftover white beans and rice in the fridge, so we’ll just have that for supper. It will save heat in the kitchen to use up the leftovers and it will save me some money. What I really need are some hot weather recipes that don’t require long cook times.

We love salads in the summer, but even those get tiresome day after day. I need a way to use ingredients on hand to create meals that have a short cook time but are long on flavor. Things that are cooling and refreshing to eat. A hot, hearty meal is great occasionally. But a lot of the time, we are just plain too hot to eat anything in the afternoon.

If you have recipes or ideas for cool, summertime meals, let me know!

Well, at least it feels like I’m sitting on top of the world. I’m in an upstairs bedroom, blogging and painting on glass, since I have today off. I will have to go later and pick up my paycheck from work, but for now I’m relaxing.

It’s warm today, but not terribly hot so I’ve got the window open and the door to the balcony open, too. I can clearly hear the cicadas calling and the birds singing. My view from this room is lovely. Across the road is an open field. Nearer the house, trees and flowers. I feel like I’m sitting in a tree house as I go about my day-off activities. In fact, when I look straight out the window, I’m actually seeing the tops of some of the trees at eye level.

While my bedroom has become my restful haven, and certainly a favorite place to hide from the world, this room has become my inspiration and motivation to do more of the things I love doing. I’ve got all my crafting supplies in this room and as I go along, I’ll do more organizing so they are easily at hand when I am wanting to use them. Right now, it’s glass painting that soothes my soul and brings some color and dimension to selected spots in my home.

In fact, it’s the view that is the inspiration for the pieces I’m currently working on. What I see outside is being captured in paint on glass.
